Happy New Year’s from Ellen’s!
How will you be celebrating the start of a new decade? In some countries, the year is started by eating certain foods; buckwheat soba noodles are popular in Japan, while round foods such as fruits are eaten in the Philippines and donuts are popular in Denmark.
Like the United States, Australia and England ring in the new year with spectacular fireworks shows; in Brazil, offerings to ensure a good year ahead are thrown into the sea. In the city of Talca, Chile, families wash gravestones, picnic, and spend the night in cemeteries to start the new year with their ancestors.
Whatever your traditions, we hope you have a wonderful New Year’s celebration filled with joy and a wonderful start to 2020!
