Adapting a Master for the Norton Simon

Adapting a Master for the Norton Simon

Ellen’s Silkscreening office manager and social media designer Caitlin Clarkson was recently asked to create a custom design for an exhibit at the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena, CA (printed at Ellen’s, naturally).

The design is a reinterpretation of a portion of the painting The Wool Winder by French painter Jean-Baptiste Greuze; the painting is currently part of the temporary exhibit The Sweetness of Life: Three 18th-Century French Paintings from The Frick Collection

While the original painting focuses on the daydreaming wool winder, Caitlin’s lighthearted design makes the playful kitten at her side the focus; the tote is printed with a front and rear view of the kitten. The totes are available for purchase at the Norton Simon and online while supplies last.
